The term transparency is simple to pronounce, but extremely hard to run a fleet without transparency. Questions pile up fast. Where is that vehicle? What was the reason the costs were so high last month? And was that a job they said was this long? Between assumptions and half answers, the instruments of the fleet management system come in, and give a replacement to the mist with something closer to the daylight.
Transparency begins with visibility. It removes speculation in the case of co-located location, trip history and vehicle status. Managers do not seek updates any longer. Similar calls are not made to drivers anymore. Arguably, the image is universal, and it does away with an unwanted level of stress in the everyday activity. The silence is no longer a cause of suspicion. It merely states that the things are going on as planned.
When all the data is exposed, the privacy of the performance discussions is altered. Patterns are the alternative of memory or the hearsay to teams. Constant takeoff way flights. Cars that con use above normal fuel. Consistently performing freelancers. Transparency doesn’t punish. It clarifies. Good work stands out. Problems are discussed and not personalized.
Cost transparency is the highest relief that can be obtained. The expenses will most certainly carry a heavier weight with no one having an idea on how they came about. The use of fuel, the size of maintenance cost and downtimes are redirected to some sources. Conversations are more of scaling back than criticisms. A route tweak here. A service change there. Budgets breathe as in the long run spendings become manageable, but not mysterious.
The concept of fleet transparency does not imply snorescing on each action. The question is that of leading people to the same facts. The running of things with free flow of information is just smooth sailing. Decisions get calmer. Trust strengthens.
